About the Founder:

A Background Rooted in Knowledge and Experience

Founder Shanda Domango holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management with a minor in Dance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Master’s in Arts Management from Claremont Graduate University. Dancing since the age of 2, Shanda found that movement was a grounding force, particularly during life-shaping events like Hurricane Katrina. She’s an AFAA-certified personal trainer with expertise in youth sports, prenatal fitness, Brain Gym, Barre Above, and dance fitness. Her professional journey includes specialized training with United Way and Propeller business programs and a diverse background in both nonprofit and community initiatives.

Our Philosophy

At NOLA Healing Movement, we believe that movement, meditation, and intuitive arts can transform lives at any age. Our workshops, whether held weekly or annually, become powerful memories and foundational experiences for children and mothers alike, often remembered as moments of self-acceptance, emotional release, and empowerment.

Our Approach

With over 23 years of experience, Shanda Domango brings a unique blend of expertise in dance, fitness, and nonprofit management. A lifelong dancer since age 2, Shanda has an undergraduate degree in Business Management with a Dance minor from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Master’s in Arts Management from Claremont Graduate University. Certified in youth sports, prenatal fitness, Brain Gym, and more, Shanda’s extensive professional background—paired with her healing journey and role as a mother—forms the heart of NOLA Healing Movement.

The Science of Healing
Our work is grounded in research showing that trauma, anxiety, and limiting beliefs can be alleviated through mindful movement and meditation. These practices promote resilience and help individuals rewire emotional responses, leading to lasting positive change. Combining intuitive guidance with scientifically backed healing techniques, we create spaces where kids feel safe to express themselves, reconnect with their innate resilience, and access tools that support them in real-life challenges.

In our curriculum-based workshops and sessions, children learn that mindfulness can be fun—through hip-hop breathwork or dance-based emotional release—and feel empowered to share these skills with family and friends. Similarly, mothers walk away from workshops feeling grounded, rejuvenated, and supported by a community of like-minded women.
